Dr. Rachel Goldenbergis a leading authority in singing and lung disease. Dr. Goldenberg’s doctoral dissertation focused on the use of singing lessons as an adjunctive airway clearance technique for cystic fibrosis and her article, “Singing for Respiratory Health: A Literature Review” was published in 2018 in the peer-reviewed Journal of Voice. She has presented her dissertation research and continuing research in the use of singing for respiratory ailments across the United States, Canada and Europe. Recently she has focused her work on helping people with lung disease to better coordinate their breath with the voice through individual lessons and the “Breathe, Sing, Move!” program created at Breathe Well Physio in Calgary.  The “Breathe, Speak, Pace” voice skills program for people experiencing long-COVID was launched in March 2021. Dr. Goldenberg has been in demand as a guest lecturer on breathing and singing physiology at universities and programs across North America. As an active and trained singing voice specialist, she frequently assists injured singers, actors and other voice users referred to her from medical professionals and the voice community. Dr. Goldenberg received her Doctor of Musical Arts in vocal pedagogy from Shenandoah University where she was the recipient of the Dean’s Graduate Scholar Award for “exceptional aptitude for research and scholarship.” She also holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in voice performance and pedagogy from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey. She previously taught voice, speech and pedagogy at Ambrose University and maintained a private voice studio in her native Calgary, Canada. She continues to consult on vocal health and lead “Breathe, Sing, Move!” and “Breathe, Speak, Pace” at Breathe Well Physio while pursuing her Master of Clinical Sciences degree in speech-language pathology at Western University in London, Ontario. 

Dr Keir Philip is a Respiratory and General Adult Physician. He previously worked as a dancer, before reading medicine (MBChB) and International health (BSc), with post-graduate qualifications in Tropical Medicine (EADTM&H) and medical ethics and philosophy (DPMSA). Recent projects include dance for people with multi-drug resistant tuberculosis in South Africa, and chronic lung disease in the Kyrgyz Republic and Uganda. Previous posts include the NIHR Academic Foundation Programme (Royal Free Hospital) and NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship in Respiratory Medicine (Imperial College NHS Trust). He is currently a PhD candidate (4i/Wellcome/MRC/LFFMS Fellowship) at the Imperial College National Heart and Lung Institute. His with research interests include physical activity, physical performance, and arts-based interventions in chronic lung disease. He is a previous TEDx speaker, and founding member of the DanceAble Collective (www.danceable.co.uk).
